MLK Day Reflection 2018
Words Have PowerAs I reflect on Oprah's Golden Globe speech, and listen to speeches by one of America's greatest orators, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I am reminded of the just how much our words have power. The bible puts it this way, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." With God in our hearts and by his authority we have power to move mountains, break strongholds, and erect social change. Our greatest challenge is to not allow the voice of evil to out pace the voice of love; or allow evil to usher us into silence.
Words Are A Call To ActionOur words give instruction to our feet. Once we muster the courage to tap into our greatness, the next step is service. Service to not only yourself, but service to your community and ultimately the Kingdom of God. "Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life..." In other words, service is a lifestyle.
Words Are A LegacyOnce we give life to words, words become our legacy. Generations later we are still being nourished by the words of Dr. King.
"Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be a sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are." What's Your Life's Blueprint, October 26, 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
